HYGIENE File Folder Activities:
Special Education: Autism, Aspergers
Teach your students the important life skill of hygiene through file folder activities. Use these sequencing file folders as a way to reinforce every day, good hygiene. Practice these skills in one-on-one instruction and independent station or center work. In order for our students to become socially responsible and aware, they need to have an understanding of the basis of completing a hygiene related activity. Each file folder has a one page mini social story and a correlated sequencing work page with numbered boxes. The file folders are assembled so the student can use the social story on one side of the file folder as a guide to complete the sequencing activity. The sequencing steps include the six most important steps from the social story. The social stories and completed sequencing steps can also be used throughout the student’s environment as a visual reminder. This packet contains 9 different sequencing activities with some having a male and female version including
☞ Activity 1: Brushing Hair (6 pages)
☞ Activity 2: Brushing Teeth (6 pages)
☞ Activity 3: Getting Dressed (BOY and GIRL VERSIONS) (12 pages)
☞ Activity 4: Taking a Bath (BOY and GIRL VERSIONS) (12 pages)
☞ Activity 5: Taking a Shower (BOY and GIRL VERSIONS) (12 pages)
☞ Activity 6: Getting Undressed (BOY and GIRL VERSIONS) (12 pages)
☞ Activity 7: Using the Restroom (6 pages)

All file folders come with a cover, a one page social story, inside work page with moveable sequencing pieces, a back pocket for storing moveable pieces, tab label, and a general teaching description. I recommend that all are printed in color as they are most likely to hold your students’ attention but, if you wish, you can set your printer to black & white/grayscale.
Use these for those with disabilities including autism, Asperger’s, emotional disability, attention deficit disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Also useful for preschool children and T.E.A.C.C.H. activities for children with special needs. Great for special education teachers, general classroom teachers, speech and language pathologists, social workers, guidance counselors, therapists, instructional assistants, and parents.
