Students will explore planets and objects in our solar system as well as a couple exoplanets. They will use the research provided to determine if it is habitable. (To increase rigor students could perform their own research.)
Each student will receive their own planet and fill out the flow chart on their planet. Those flow charts will then be used in a gallery walk the next day. Each student will receive the grid chart and fill in the remainder of the planets using the other student's flow chart.
The last part is the lab. You could have stations set up or call up small groups to a teacher station. Students will use the template given and use food coloring and shaving cream to create a color model of their planet. You will need to print the paper model on card stock.
