The project entails students studying the Haida Indians and their artists. The students will choose from one of three mask designs: eagle, bear or frog. The students will learn to cut the pieces of their masks and curl and fold them where necessary to make a two-dimensional mask with three-dimensional elements. Step by step photos and instructions are included.
Note: This project does not include the mask templates but they would be easy to make.
You get the project outline, two marking rubrics, a journal page, and information on the elements and/or principle of design being studied as well as any pertinent information based on the theme.
