This document has three Haiku autumn poems. It has three questions that follow that are aligned with the common core state standards expectations which emphasize written explanations and an emphasize in citing textual evidence for answers.
Students need to determine main ideas in poems, compare and contrast and state what makes poems enjoyable.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.3.1a Introduce the topic or text they are writing about, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure that lists reasons.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.3.1b Provide reasons that support the opinion.
