This is a classroom activity geared towards use in a high school chemistry classroom, to be used in the RedOx and Electrochemistry Unit. This activity is used to help students practice writing oxidation and reduction half reactions.
There are 21 individual paper dominoes included in the download. If you have more than 21 students in a section, print more than one copy of the dominoes so every student can have one. The dots on the dominoes will represent the oxidation states for multiple ions within the activity.
The questions that follow the activity ask students to think about, and relate to the law of conservation of charge, oxidation and reduction occurring at the same time, and how the number of moles of reactants changes the number of moles of electrons transferred during the reaction.
