"Mr. Cummins, may I go to the restroom?"
Uh...You just went six minutes ago.
"Yeah, but that was to meet a friend in the hall. This time I actually need to use the restroom."
Students leaving the classroom can be nothing more than a bad habit. When it becomes a distraction, discourage excessive hall pass use by requiring students to fill out this form...Complete with a brief paragraph to copy.
"I believe that I am justified in using a hall pass at this time. I understand that others may be waiting to use the hall pass and I must return to class promptly. I will remain silent in the hall and not disturb other classes."
These form may also be filed to serve as a record of who has left your classroom. Three forms per page to be cut apart. An included second sheet has a version with an even longer paragraph to copy.
