Halloween – 13 Math Tasks

1st task – Ten Frames
Use these ten frames for number sense, color copy and laminate
There are 2 sets – I standard and 1 not standard
Use as flashcards, sequence in order, ask how did you know it was 5? Encourage children to share strategies i.e. I saw 3 and 2 and that is 5

2nd task - Make to 10
Copy and laminate – use a dry erase marker
To record answers/or copy one for each child in black and white
Use cards as memory to match two that make 10 or match partners and show using counters
Use blank cards to make your own friends of 10 cards and write equations

3rd task - Less than – Bigger than
Copy and laminate cards and place in the correct place for 6 students – I card each
With a buddy – choose a number each from the card pile and place in the correct side of the card

4th task - Turn around facts
Use the three numbers on the cards to write on small whiteboards the four equations for addition and subtraction

5th task - Calendar Numbers
Calendar - enlarge onto A3 in color
Date tags are used to reinforce ordinals – ask questions like what is next, in front of and can be glued on for each day as the month progresses

6th task - Days of the week
Copy on color and laminate, use the cards to sequence days of the week

7th task - Months of the year
Copy on color and laminate and use the cards to sequence days of the months of the year

8th task - Sequencing Numbers
Each set of cards are colored coded in sets of 9 with random numbers to sequence
Sequence each set – get a buddy to check them

9th task - Matching Collections
Color copy and laminate, match the collection to the numeral and the word

10th task - Telling time
Match the times to the clocks – please use only one set at a time
There are analogue clocks to match to an analogue time and a digital time
Orange set – o'clock
Purple set – half past
Green Set – quarter past
Blue Set – quarter to

11th task - Odds and Evens
There are two sets of cards – copy in color and laminate
Blue and Green are even sets
Orange and Purple are odd sets
Place legs or eyes in a line and start adding the numerals to show the counting sequence

12th task - Problem solving cards
Students are to read each card and solve the problems
Use the recording sheet to show working out and answers

13th task - Skip Counting
Each picture needs to be printed and laminated
Cut along the lines and then put back together to show the correct counting sequence for skip counting
