ONE: Figurative Language In Frightening Fiction - This worksheet requires students to read and analyze a short passage from a horror story, which contains many examples of figurative language techniques. They are then required to identify, name and explain the figurative language techniques. (*Please note that the passage is an original piece of writing.) – Answer Key Included

TWO: Writing Horror Movie Taglines - Contained on this worksheet are a series of (made-up) horror movie titles. Students have to write the taglines, as they would appear on the posters, and for each they must include a figurative language technique.

THREE: Analyzing A Poem - This activity requires students to read and analyze the eerie poem ‘The Listeners” by Walter De La Mare. Included is a worksheet to guide their analysis of the figurative language and imagery contained in the poem. – Answer Key Included
