The students will have so much fun figuring out the words to these poems and then illustrating them!
There are thirteen Halloween poems included in this product. As a class, students will figure out the rhyming words (or non-rhyming words!), and then write the words on the appropriate lines. Then they can illustrate the poems. Children love to color Halloween pictures, I've found!
At the end of the unit, I clip a note on the book so that the students will take the book home and read it to an adult. He/She can then bring the note back for a treat.
You may not want to do all thirteen poems...just choose as many, as well as the ones, that you would like to do with your class. (Three of the thirteen poems do refer to witches...) You may not want to use those.
Depending how many poems I have decided to include in the book, I usually space them out and do a poem every third day or so.
As we finish the poems, we continually read them together as a class in order to practice those valuable reading skills.
Thanks for checking this out!
