In the search for a fun and healthy activity to do on Halloween, I took our school's smartgoal of adding descriptive details to writing and unified it with an Apple tasting contest for our Halloween party. I have parents purchase specific types of apples, cut a tray of each apple and label each tray with a number. While the students are watching a movie, parents travel around the room and pass out apples to students. Students read the descriptions of how each apple should taste and do their best to try and identify the apples on each tray. This handout provides the descriptions and recording sheet for the students. This can also be used for making observations in science.
