This is a great Halloween literacy center or for small groups who are still working on the hard c/ soft c or hard g/ soft g sounds.
One way I’ve used this in my classroom is by stapling or gluing the Halloween bags onto brown paper bags or lunch bags. Students will then sort them by dropping the candy cards into the bag. This extra step really added some excitement for the students. After they finished sorting the words, they can then write their words on the candy cards on the answer sheet. If you would rather not use paper bags, you can just use them as is and have students place the candy cards directly on top of the bags as shown on the coversheet.
This activity can be a word work center or used as one of your Halloween centers. If you don’t have time, I’ve also included individual sorts that you can print out for students to do as a whole class or in small groups.
