This activity can be used in a Pre-Algebra or Algebra class. After teaching how to graph functions, students will use the cost of Halloween candy to create and graph functions.
Ahead of time, I start collecting sales ads for grocery and drug stores for the students to use. Halloween candy starts going on sale in September so you can start this project before Halloween.
Students will need to find 3 different prices for Halloween candy. After, students will create a function table depending on how many bags of candy they purchase.
Example: y = (price of the product) • x
X = the number of bags you buy
Y = the total cost of those bags
