Halloween Comparing Numbers
This is a Halloween activity comparing numbers. There are 24 pairs of cards with sets of pictures on them, 28 pairs of number cards, and 2 different comparing mat to choose from. One mat has the headings ‘Greater’, ‘Equal’, and ‘Fewer’. The other mat has the headings ‘More’, ‘Equal’, and ‘Less’. Give each child 12 pairs of picture cards or 12 pairs of number cards and a comparing mat. There are enough cards for 4 children to use in a math station or center. You can copy more cards if more than 4 children are using this activity at the same time. The children will take two cards that have the same pictures on them, compare them, and place the set that shows greater than under ‘Greater’, and the set that shows fewer, under ‘Fewer’. If the sets are equal, place both cards under ‘Equal’. The number card pairs also match. The children compare all of their sets, placing them on top of the set they previously compared. The teacher will check the sets of like pictures or numbers when they are finished.
This activity is great for math stations or for math centers.
