1st task - Word Wall
Color copy and you may want to make the pages larger (A3) before printing.
As you brainstorm words add them to this list.
They can be used for writing tasks and also to expand vocabulary and used over the time of this work.
2nd task A-Z Key
Copy one for each child or a larger copy for one between 2
Write as many words as you can that are about Halloween
Add them to the class word wall
3rd task- Book Report
Your job is to convince someone else to read your favorite Halloween book
Fill out the book report and share with the grade.
4th task - Halloween Acrostic Poem
Write a word or sentence for each letter
5th task - Match Capitals to lower case Letters
You can match the letters, Play snap, Use for memory cards
6th task - Story starters
Plot- setting-character, Copy on color and laminate, Place in a cup/tin each with the labels attached
Choose one of each color to write a narrative
7th task - Boggle
Halloween or Trick or treat. Display the letters and see how many words you can make
You may use the letters on the floor to make each word and then write them
8th task - Draw and label your outfit
Draw the outfit you would like to wear this year – label it. Record what it is made of, discuss the parts of it. Use the lined paper to write a prediction about what will happen when you wear your outfit
9th task - Spooky house words
Draw a spooky house and then put descriptive words around it.
10th task - List the Candy you love
With a partner list the candy you love, they love and you both love (in the middle is what you both love to eat)
11th task - Design a witches outfit and write a description
12th task - Superstitious list
Explore books and use the internet to list why we are superstitious
List things we avoid like
Not crossing in front of black cats
Not walking under ladders
13th task - Cauldron recipe
Make up a potion – what would you put in it and what would it do?
