Teach your students about the history of Halloween. Use this reading passage to teach fluency and comprehension about the history of Halloween.
Set includes both a student and teacher copy (with word count for each line) of the passage, graph for charting fluency progress, 16 standardized test-type questions, and 3 different center activities. The comprehension questions could be cut apart and used as task cards, used for a scoot game, set up around the room as a carousel activity, sent home as homework, or kept for a center or seatwork.
Since the passage includes information about the history of Halloween, this would also be a great way to reinforce social studies/history concepts during guided reading. Or, if you have students reading lower than the level of their textbooks, use this to teach about Halloween!
