This is a fun Halloween activity that will keep your students engaged and still learning standards .
In this activity, students are asked to follow spoken directions or written directions. I tell students that if they follow the directions exactly, then they should have no trouble duplicating my pumpkin and thus getting a 100 on the assignment. However, the directions are written rather vaguely. The directions lack the specificity needed to create an exact duplicate of my pumpkin. (I do not show the students my pumpkin until everyone is finished.
Students are then asked to evaluate the directions and then create their own.
