What better time to give you and your students a little mental break and have some fun than Halloween! Print out one board per student. Put the word bank up for the students to see and have them fill out their board with the words. You can also print the word bank to the BACK of the Geo-Bingo Board so that the students can choose their words and put them on their boards. There are more words (32) than spaces (24). Once they are done, put the problems up on the board, overhead, or smart board for them to answer. Many of the questions don’t need to be written. You can read them aloud and use a highlighter to keep track of the words you’ve called out already. I like to walk around and make sure the students are on task. I also like to see how close or far we are from someone calling Bingo. In case I’m running out of time I know what to call next and if I want to stretch the game, I know which ones to avoid! If they have the word/number on their board, they can put an X on it. They get Bingo once they have one full column, row, or diagonal.
To make the game more fun, use M&M’s or candy corn as the markers. They can eat the candy once the game is over. I use small bags of chips as prizes for the top 5 people to get bingo. Food is a great incentive! You can use whatever you’d like for a prize and you can have as many winners as you’d like.
