This is an easy and fun Halloween activity for grades 1-5 to learn graphing skills in a fun way.
It takes one class period of about 30-60 minutes depending on the grade level. The handout can be displayed in the classroom, used as an assessment and/or attached to an interactive notebook.
There are two options:
Option 1 – Project Board (right)
This option takes a bit more time but it is my favorite because the display is left in the classroom as reminder like an anchor chart and I use it for other graphing activities throughout the year.
-Bag of Halloween Chocolate Kit Kat flavors (or at least 3 different Kit Kat flavors)
Small size project board
-Miniature clothing pins or clips
-Permanent marker and pencil
*(Optional)small cauldron to store and display the Kit Kat candy
Option 2 – Projected on a Smart Board or Promethean Board
This option is quick and it allows you to project on the board and work along side the students. I like this option because you can discard any misconceptions about graphing process.
I’ve provided two different handouts for primary level and upper grades, as well as two different covers for the project board.
I hope your students enjoy this activity as much as mine did!
