Use this fun graphing activity to amp up your students' data collection and interpretation skills.
Students tally costumes that other students wear in your Halloween Costume Parade - or just have them survey other students to find out the types of costumes they will wear this year.
Students transform the tally chart into a bar graph, and then answer questions about the info on the graph.
Finally, students write their own questions (one addition and one subtraction) for the information on their graphs, and students can answer each other's questions.
One option: play some fun Monster Mash music, and let the students move around until the music stops - and then they quickly sit down and answer one of the problems on the other student's page. Repeat this process so students can answer another student's problem....voila - learning and instant FUN all rolled up into one activity!
