This resource includes:
-- a two-page reading passage: the first page about the origins of the English language and the second page is about the origins of Halloween with an emphasis on the vocabulary of the celebration;
--a page of questions (assessing comprehension as well as expressing opinions while citing evidence);
-- a pre-reading vocabulary page of words from the passages;
-- and a list of 34 Halloween words is also included to help students choose a word to research for the “word origin challenge” at the end of the question page.
