A short writing assignment and research project in which students choose a historical figure to research, write a report, and create a costume for the figure to give a presentation.
This project does not deal with the history of the holiday, but rather uses the opportunity to create costumes to use in the presentation of the reports given by the students.
While the duration of the project is over the month of October, it is to be implemented in small segments over the month so regular instruction of the curriculum can occur during that time as well. I implemented the intro day, the explanation day, the research days, and the presentation days over the end of September through the end of October whenever the time allowed. I also utilized Google Classroom for students to work on their projects over the course of the month with check-in days on their progress.
The lesson plan that is included is more of an outline than a hard and fast set of requirements.
