I created this with the purpose of helping my students review homophones skills.
I wanted to find a way to help them review but not have to write
a lot down. I also wanted to mirror an activity they were required to do in the classroom where they had to find incorrect homophones in short passages. I thought this story would be engaging and fun!
To use they simply read the story and find all of the incorrectly used/spelled homophones that they can. Then on the Answer sheet they write down the intended correct spelling. I've used this two ways:
- given the students the passage, told them to the total number to find, and challenged them to find as many (or a certain number) as they can ... THEN given them the Recording Sheet.
- given struggling students the Recording Sheet after the reading so they can use it to go back into the story and find the words they need ...
EITHER WAY they are re-reading and finding things within the story! :)
