This lesson incorporates the mixing of tints and shades to create a night sky and silhouette papercutting. The slides go from the introduction of tints and shades, the painting process, artist and papercutting information for silhouette, sketching, and finished product. This does not have to be a Halloween landscape. With a couple of quick deletions, this project can easily be any positive space silhouette assignment. I incorporated moon phases and nocturnal animals for a science connection. This takes 3 or 4 45 minute class periods with about 30-40 minutes of teaching time for the whole project.
