This packet includes fourteen (plus one Bonus activity) Hallowe'en literacy activities. These activities can be used as whole-class stand-alone activities, or can be used as centres/stations for small groups. Many include options for presentation, allowing you to evaluate Oral Communication, if you wish. Many of the activities are print-and-go, although suggestions are provided for materials that may enhance student learning.

Each activity is offered both in colour and in a photocopy-friendly version. The packet includes task cards for stations, worksheets, and answer keys where appropriate, as well as several options for evaluation.

Activities include:

  1. Dracula's Den: creative writing - poetry (presentation option)
  2. Spooky Findings: research/reading comprehension (presentation option)
  3. Eerie Edibles: creative writing - menu (presentation option)
  4. Pumpkin Carols: creative writing - lyrics (presentation option)
  5. Creepy Creations: visual art (not really a literacy activity, but can be modified to include adjectives to describe the lines/designs used)
  6. Ghostly Spelling: spelling practice (crayon resist)
  7. Ghoulish Game: spelling practice (board game)
  8. Monster Mash: alphabetical order/research
  9. Riddle Me This: inference/reading comprehension (presentation option)
  10. Monster Patrol: inference/descriptive writing
  11. I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream: alliteration/adjectives
  12. A Spooky Story: adjectives
  13. Weird Word Wheels: synonyms and antonyms
  14. Pumpkin Puzzle: vocabulary (crossword puzzle)
  15. Bonus: Boo-ographies: visual arts/writing/oral communication (presentation option) (Note: There is no task card for this activity.)
