Use the printables at a Halloween center in October for independent and partner practice at guided and independent literacy stations.
The centers are:
1. Trick or Treat Fun – Long Vowel Sounds
Sort the pictures into 3 categories: long a, long i, and long o sounds. Cut and glue each picture under the correct category.
2. Happy Halloween! – Sight Words
Read the sight words around the room (Post the sight word cards throughout the classroom walls.). Write the words in the boxes. Read the words to a classmate.
3. Halloween Monsters – Short Vowel Sounds
Sort the pictures into 3 categories: short a, short e, and short iword sounds. Cut and glue each picture under the correct category.
4. Spooky Halloween – Making Sentences
Put the words in order to make sentences. Write the sentences.
5. Trick or Treat Candy – Inflectional Endings
Read and sort the words into two categories: words with ingendings and words with edendings. Write the words on the recording sheet that has the correct ending.
6. Jack-o-Lantern Fun – Capitalization and Punctuation
Read the sentences. Write and fix the sentences by putting capital letters and punctuation where needed.
7. Witch’s Brew – Nouns and Verbs
Read the words. Sort the words into two categories: nouns and verbs. Write the words under the correct category.
8. Halloween Night – L Blends
Read the words. Match the words to the pictures on the recording sheet. Color the picture that matches each word and write the number that matches each word.
