This creative and interactive activity is sure to capture the Halloween spirit for students. Students design cupcakes, ghosts, and pumpkins based on the features found on the fraction cards. The number of images increases on each template to vary complexity. Blank fraction cards can be used by students to create their own features and then exchange with a classmate to create a new set of designer cupcakes, ghosts, or pumpkins. This activity can be used to strengthen student fluency of multiplying fractions by whole numbers. Each task sheet has a cauldron with a number. Students determine the fractional part of the amount and add their answers to the bubbles. The numbers on the cauldrons do increase to vary the complexity.
