This is a great estimation activity using candy around Halloween time. This is a letter home and activity sheet requesting parents send in and/or donate a mason jar full of wrapped and pre-counted candy. The students will then make an estimated guess at how many pieces are in each jar. On the reveal day, students will get one piece from each jar to take home with them, and the person with the closest estimate to each jar will take home the rest of the candy in that jar. Great follow-up lesson on estimation, and a fun way to celebrate Halloween in Math class!
