For this project, students will design the floor plan for a haunted house following specific guidelines. Then, you have several options for the math skills to practice:
Have students record the fraction (out of 48 squares) that each haunted house room takes up. They will also record the fractions in simplest form.
Option B—Perimeter and Area
Have students record the perimeter and area for each of the haunted house rooms.
Option C—Fractions, Perimeter, and Area
Have students complete both Option A and B.
Additional Resources Included—
Rubrics: A rubric for each option is included.
Key: You may choose to have students create a key with the provided template, or you may have students label the rooms on the blueprint.
Student Examples: Student samples are included. I went simple with the room names so students would be left to their own creativity.
Fraction Chart: For students who need extra support.
