Each story problem requires students to think critically before solving can begin.

2. The temperature was 1°F in the morning. If the temperature dropped 7°F, what is the temperature now?

3. Carl spent \$.87 on candy on Monday and \$1.98 on candy on Tuesday. How much did he spend total?

4. Ron’s pumpkins were 1.4 in., 1.5 in., and 9.3 in. What is the difference between the tallest and shortest pumpkin?
