The Phenomenal Pumpkin Problem is an activity rich in Math, Language Arts, and Science. For years, teachers have opened pumpkins for their students during the Halloween and Thanksgiving seasons. This adds to the experience with a study booklet and cooperative team roles to study the pumpkin in depth. Measurements, observations, drawing, and creative writing activities are included. Believe it or not- this was once done in a cafeteria with 100 sixth graders….Phenomenal!
This lesson includes a student booklet, teaching tips, and photos of growing pumpkins.
A slideshow of the entire lesson can be viewed on the website http://scienceandkidsactivities.com under the math tab.
