This Halloween bundle includes the following activities:
Halloween Patterning Set
: Practice patterning with a Halloween theme. This set includes aba, aab, and abc patterns for children to extend. It also includes blank mats so that children can create their own patterns. Practicing with this set will help children recognize, extend, and create patterns, helping them to master a skill that will become the foundation for higher level mathematics and critical thinking skills.
Halloween Alphabet Book
: This book is a great way to celebrate Halloween while encouraging literacy. Each letter corresponds with a Halloween-themed vocabulary word which will help children practice letter sounds. Print one for each child, or a few for a center. You could also have children create their own Halloween themed alphabet to go along with each of the letters.
Letter Candy Corn
: This activity is perfect for practicing letter recognition and phonetic sounds. Students have to match the capital, lowercase, and script letters, and then use the candy corn mats to build a candy corn. This activity encourages children to practice letter recognition, but it also requires sorting, sequencing, and spatial awareness.
Halloween Vocabulary Cards
: Use these vocabulary cards to introduce your students to new words. These are perfect for writing centers and activities. This set includes the words candy corn, bat, cat, jack o'lantern, skull, spider, witch, ghost, pumpkin, and candy.
This set also includes a set of cards that has pictures and spaces for children to practice spelling the vocabulary words with letter tiles. You could also use the second set to have each child write in the words themselves to create their own vocabulary card set.
Jack O Lantern Shape Practice set
: This shape practice set includes three activities to do with the included printable cards. Children can use the Jack-o-Lantern mats to practice visual discrimination and recognizing shapes. Cut out each Jack-o-Lantern mat and the extra face pieces on each page. Then ask students to match the extra pieces to the shapes that they see on the Jack-o-Lanterns. I have also included a blank pumpkin so that students can create their own Jack-o-Lantern.
The set also includes Jack-o-Lantern cards that are perfect for matching. Children can look for the matches or play a memory game with them to build social skills. You could also have students sort them by asking them to find all of the Jack-o-Lanterns with round eyes, or all of the Jack-o-Lanterns that have triangles.
The question cards are perfect for informal assessment. Each card asks students to find a Jack-o-Lantern containing a specific feature. These can be used with the large Jack-o-Lantern mats, or with the matching cards, depending on the size of your group and the children’s skill level.
