Aligned To The Following Common Core Standards:
3.OA.1: Multiplication with Equal Groups
I can interpret products (12 = 4 x 3 as 4 groups of 3, an array with 4 rows and 3 columns and an area of 4 by 3 rectangle or 4 rows of 3 objects).
3.OA.3: Multiplication and Division Word Problems
I can use multiplication and division to solve word problems.
3.OA.4: Unknown Numbers in Multiplication & Division
I can solve a problem where I need to find the missing number in a multiplication or division equation.
3.OA.7: Multiplication & Division Facts
I can rattle off my multiplication and division facts, from 1-9, without too much struggle because I’ve memorized them.
3.OA.8: Two-Step Word Problems
I can use addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to solve word problems that I might need to solve in the real-world someday.
The Differentiation Advantage
This set of task cards has been organized in a way that allows for seamless differentiation. Cards #1-7 are the least difficult and can be given to any students who might be struggling to gain confidence. Cards #8-14 are just slightly more challenging, while the last 6 questions require a bit more critical thinking, being primarily long-form word problems.
*Careful attention has been put into each question so that the problems won't discourage your students, yet they are still rigorous enough to facilitate multiplication mastery and prepare your students for assessment / examination.
The Engagement Advantage
The illustrations on our task cards come directly from our musical math animations that can be seen on YouTube or, alternatively, completely ad-free on our website, numberock.com.
We highly recommend supplementing these task cards with the Halloween video. Doing so will provide an unprecedented level of engagement as your students seamlessly transition from the fun Halloween Video to completing illustrated task cards which feature matching illustrations from the video. We’ve also added a smattering of (wholesome) humor into the wording of the questions. All that being said, I’m highly confident that this will be a big hit with your students!
Methodology - How We Designed the Problems
Each question is aligned to the (CCSS) Common Core state standards, and is specifically designed to meet the documented student expectations for that standard. The questions are patterned on previously released state-sanctioned math tests, and the questions can be used for guided practice and independent practice. See more suggested uses below.
