Mad Libs are a fun way for students to learn the parts of speech. This Halloween story focuses on nouns as people, places, animals, and things.
To use this activity, have your students work in pairs. It is best if one of the partners (Student A) holds the worksheet on a clipboard, so that the other student (Student B) cannot see it. Student A reads the words that are in parentheses under the blank spaces (ex: place). Student B responds by saying a place, which student A then writes in the blank. When all of the blanks have been filled in, the students can read their silly story together and to the class.
