Materials Included:

(in B&W and color versions)

• 3 differentiated game boards identified by seasonal character for students working on numbers 1-5, 0-5, and 6-10.

What You Need:

• counters, mini erasers, googly eyes, or pom-poms (optional: laminate and use dry erase markers instead of counters for fewer pieces to keep track of!)

• paper clip and pencil or thin dowel (= DIY spinner!)

How to Play:

• Students use DIY spinner to select a number, then cover the corresponding number (in any font) of their choosing. End goal: “black out” entire board!

Tips: Print B&W version on colored paper for fun seasonal appeal. Print color version on cardstock or print on copy paper, cut, and back with construction paper before laminating.

Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
