This is a three part package that is a modified version of a segment of Reading Through History's 'History of Halloween'. It includes reading lessons that cover the origins of the Halloween holiday. Included in the package are lessons that cover the origins and common beliefs that revolve around the celebrations that take place in late October. Topics in the lesson include Samhain, Pomona, All Saints' Day, and All Hallows Eve. For each lesson, there are several pages of student activities to accompany the material, including reading comprehension and student writing responses. The new activities and questions are centered around themes that include a wide variety of 4th and 5th grade Common Core standards.
