How About a Tongue Twister Party!
This is a great literacy activity for a class Halloween party or just for fun during the week of Halloween. (Turn it into a contest if your kids don’t mind competing.)
Students may need to practice reading the tongue twisters fluency page before editing and writing the same sentences.
They may want to read with a partner. It is also fun to see how fast (and accurately) they can read the sentences.
Recirculate the cards so that everyone in your group reads all 12 tricky tongue twisters.
Experiment with different voices, tones, and silly expressions to make this tongue twister activity even more interesting!
Want a real Halloween twister party? Play a real game of "Twister" as one of your activities!
The tongue twister sentences include alliterative phrases that pertain to the theme of a Halloween party.
Challenge your students to write their own tongue twisters, and/or using the twister starters in this packet.
The advantage of reading, re-reading, and writing these same twisters
over again, is that your students will become more fluent as they read and write them. Reading tongue twisters (and writing them) can be an effective way to build confidence and have fun at the same time.
