Description
Use these seasonal halloween picture cards to help your children practice recognizing and segmenting words into phonemes. Great for assessments and RTI activities. Can be used as a whole class or small group activity or center.

Place the picture cards in a container. Read the rhyme with the students:
Into the cauldron the words we drop
How many sounds can you hear ‘pop’?
Pick a card and show it to the students, e.g. hat Using your thumb and fingers, tap out the sounds for the word /h/ /a/ /t/ (3). Place the hat picture card under number 3. Repeat with the other picture cards.
When students become more proficient at identifying phonemes in words, they can play this game in a center.
Also great as a ‘ticket-out-the-door’ quiz, and useful for teacher observation and assessments.
A total of 24 vocabulary picture cards.
