I use this lesson on word choice during the month of October or on the day my school celebrates Halloween.
We read the poem Wicked Witch Willebrand to talk about using descriptive words and helping to paint a picture in the reader's mind. I've also listed other picture books I use with this lesson to help create an image for the reader.
Kids get a chance to draw Wicked Witch Willebrand at the end of this lesson, using the detailed descriptions in the poem (nose like a banana, curly red hair, broad hands, long dress, etc.)
This is always a favorite lesson for my 4th graders!
How to get TpT credit to use for future purchases:
*Please go to your "My Purchases" page. Beside each purchase, you’ll see a "Provide Feedback" button. Simply click it and you will be taken to a page where you can give a quick rating and leave a short comment for the product. Each time you give feedback on a purchase, TpT gives you feedback credits that you use to lower the cost of your future purchases.
