Halloween can be a time of trick-or-treating and tricky social language experiences. This activity has cards to help your students get ready for that fun night by practicing how to respond to situations and introducing them to common Halloween figurative language.
Pragmatic Response Cards: These situations will focus more on experiences that may frustrate or upset students since these are the times when they need to effectively communicate the most. Read the situation and emotion to the student then ask them how they should respond
Figurative Language: Each card provides a phrase and context for the phrase. The student is to listen to the phrase in context and then state its actual meaning. There is an included sheet of the actual meanings of the phrases used.
