How will you carve your pumpkin?
This is a fun activity that utilizes the problem solving strategy of making an organized list. Students are asked to find all the possible ways they can carve a pumpkin given certain criteria. I have formatted this activity to support good problem solving habits and included an element of student choice.
Students are taught how to have an organized system when making a list with words, drawing pictures, or creating a diagram. I have included an activity sheet for each strategy. You can make a packet and guide the students through using all 3 strategies or let them choose the strategy they prefer.
Great for a center or small group!
