All aboard for Estimation Station! In this math activity students work cooperatively to estimate and solve math problems about pumpkins. Students estimate and measure circumference using a piece of string. Students will estimate and then measure the weight of their team pumpkin. Students will estimate the number of seeds inside their pumpkin and then count to find the actual number. Students will also hypothesize wether or not their team pumpkin will sink or float and then participate in an experiment to test their hypothesize. At the end of the activity, students get to draw a picture of their carved pumpkin. As an extra bit of Halloween fun, I put a battery operated light inside each team pumpkin so we can enjoy them for the rest of the day. Get ready for some fun! My students always enjoy this activity!
