Your students are going to love this graveyard sensory bin and won't mind learning while they play! This is set up to be a sensory bin but can also be adapted to a table top activity or adding tombstones to a mural or chalkboard. 18 tombstones are included for each level of rhyming -
** saying the names of the two pictures and telling if they rhyme or not
** Saying the names of three pictures and choosing the two that rhyme
** Producing a rhyming word for the picture on each tombstone
Listening to and producing rhyming is a helpful skill for reading. Rhyming has also been shown to help kids improve their oral language skills by playfully manipulating their language. If students are struggling to learn to hear and produce rhymes, don’t panic. Practice through activities like these included along with work on simple rhyming books can assist in gaining the skills.
Also included in this resource are pictures of pumpkins, ghosts, cat and trees to add to your graveyard scene. Printing them is optional! As with any resource, you can also address vocabulary, question comprehension, use of EET with pictures and so much more.
Data sheets for each level of rhyming are included. Just print on card stock (black and white for all tombstones and color only for the pumpkin page), cut out and set in your sensory bin!
Have a spooky time in the graveyard! Please remember to leave feedback if you purchase as you earn credits for future purchases and sellers like myself get to hear what you think.
Enjoy the activity and thank you for all you do for your students.
