Small quiz boards are great projects that that have a STEAM component. One strand of colored LED holiday lights provides more than enough lights for large classes and cutting them from strands is a nice STEM aspect of electricity. You don’t even need a lot of batteries for this Halloween activity, since the batteries need not be permanently attached to the quiz board.
Instructions to build the quiz board are clearly described and includes tips on preparing and connecting the light bulbs. While students can create their own layout, this resource also provides Halloween images in black and white and color that you can give to select students. This allows you to differentiate the activity.
The activity requires a small wire stripper. Even if you have no experience stripping wires, it’s simple to do and with appropriate safety precautions, many children can strip the wires themselves to expose the copper wire. Otherwise, the quiz boards are made out of inexpensive materials such as aluminum foil and brass fasteners.
