Halloween is going to be here soon. There is no better way to celebrate Halloween than to tell scary stories. In this activity students pick from a list of unique characters, situations, settings and first lines. They can mix and match and then add their own creativity to make the story come alive.

This assignment is fun and can work with a variety of grades and levels of students.
You can use these task cards in a variety of ways.
You can give the students the directions card or you can make your own directions.
You can give each student a choice from all of the characters, settings, situations and first lines or you could give each student two or three of each to pick from.
You could also have the students draw from a hat or a bag.
You can print the different categories on different colored paper. (Ex. Characters on blue paper, situations on pink paper, etc).
If you want you can give students one of the four categories. Give some students a character, others a setting, etc.
There are so many things you can do here!
