Trick-or-treat for CVC’s! Use this fun & spooky resource to practice reading short vowel CVC words. Includes a Read Around the Room activity (or use as a literacy center) and a CVC card game!
*Read Around the Room:
As a fun activity, tell students they are “trick-or-treating” for short vowel words around the room. Have word cards taped around the room. Students will walk around and find trick-or-treater CVC words and write them on their recording sheets.
This could also work as an assessment. Place cards in a pumpkin container or treat bag. Pull out cards one at a time, reading or displaying to students. Students will record words into the correct vowel column.
*CVC short vowel card game:
Students take turns reading CVC Halloween themed words cards. (Optional game mats are provided to use for each student to organize their accumulating cards into a,e,i,o, and u categories as they play.)
Spider “EEK” and Ghost “BOO” cards are provided for a fun twist!
