Candy Bar Writing is a perfect activity to be used in the month of October around Halloween. The students bring in a candy bar of their choice and, as a class, begin to fill out the five senses chart as they examine the outer wrapper first. Suspense builds as they begin to unwrap the bar and smell and then finally taste the candy. They will examine the feel of the wrapper as well as the sound the candy makes in their mouth. Once the sloppy copy is complete, the students will create a mini book entitled " My Candy Bar Writing". Each page is devoted to one of the five senses from their chart. There is room for illustrations of the candy bar and the actual wrapper is saved and glued onto the front cover.
This makes a tasty display piece in the classroom!
