This product includes the following activities to use with Stellaluna, Creepy Carrots, and Big Pumpkin
Stellaluna (1 Activity):
Batty Context Clues- This activity includes 5 words listed on bats. Students color and cut out the bats and glue the centers to notebook paper. They guess the meaning of the word under the left wing, and then use context clues from the story to figure out the true meaning under the right wing.
Big Pumpkin (2 Activities):
1. Character Rating (before reading)- Students are given a piece of paper with characters from the story. They must rate each character (1-4 stars) in how helpful they think the character would be in pulling an enormous pumpkin from the ground. They state their reasoning for their rating beneath the doors. Ex: ghost (1 star) "A ghost probably wouldn't be helpful in pulling a large pumpkin from the ground because his hands could go through the stem."
2. Writing Activity (after reading)- Since the main character is a witch, students try to think of another way she could have solved her problem of pulling the pumpkin from the ground (would go well with an art activity)
Creepy Carrots (2 Activities):
1. Carroty Context Clues- This activity includes 4 carrots with unfamiliar words. Students color and cut out the carrots, gluing only the stems to notebook paper. Students flip the carrots up to write the meaning of the words after using clues from the story
2. Carroty Writing- Students think about what they would do if they were being chased by creepy carrots and write their answers (would go well with an art activity).
