This activity is a fun way to get your students thinking and analyzing a L1460 article about Halloween. They will read the article, and then answer questions posted around the room about the article. Each question will have a "If you answered...A, B, C, D...then go to Question 1, 4, 7, 9" statement. If kids answer all questions correctly, they will eventually make the loop of questions without repeating or skipping any. If they answer a question wrong, they will eventually end up back at a question they already answered. An answer key for the questions and a correct question order is provided for the teacher, as well as a link to the online article and a handout for students to use to keep track of their answers. At the end of the trail, I offer kids a chance to perform a "trick" for me in order to earn a "treat". They must tell me something they have learned so far this year that they did not already know, and then they get a piece of candy (or bonus points). Time wouldn't allow to do an activity like this for every article you teach, but once in a while, it's good to get the kids moving around instead of sitting in their seats, and Halloween is the perfect time to have a little fun.
