These math center activities were created to help students practice addition and subtraction within twenty while showing their understanding of the meaning of the equal sign. Students will identity true and false equations, record true facts, and put false facts into the witch's cauldron. Tons of fun and perfect for math workshop in grade 1 and grade 2!
Three true/false math center sorts are included in this resource. In all the sorts, students will keep and write the true facts on a recording sheet, and place the false facts into Wanda Witch’s cauldron. I have included a printable cauldron for this purpose, but you can also use a plastic cauldron if you have one.
In the first true/false sort, students will sort addition facts. In the second, students will sort subtraction facts, and in the third, students will sort mixed addition and subtraction facts.
In all the sorts, the equal sign appears on either side of the equation.
Sorts can be completed individually or as a small groups or partner activity. All the sorts are provided in two color options to avoid mix-ups if multiple groups are working on the activity at the same center table.
