This Halloween resource includes 4 mini-activities that lead up to students writing their own Halloween story, 18 story starters for writing/telling further Halloween stories and an illustrated word wall to help with adding detail and description. The details:
a 30-word word wall
in large font to be displayed in the classroom
the same word wall in smaller font
which can be added to the students' notebooks or duotangs to be used as a writing tool. The smaller cards can also be used to create vocabulary/reading games such as concentration matching picture with words or sorting activities.
4 mini-writing activities:
write 3-4 things that are happening in a haunted house; imagine a problem in the haunted house and solve it; draw characters in a haunted house and describe them; describe Halloween night. Once the students have completed these activities they are well prepared to write a Halloween story in their journals.
18 story-writing starters
